Chelsea and Tottenham are among the big names to look out for in the draw for the second round of the Carabao Cup, while Wrexham are also in the pot after beating Wigan
The Premier League season is still a few days away, but tonight is the night when some of the big-hitters from the top tier learn their Carabao Cup second round fate.
Last season’s final was contested between Manchester United and Newcastle, with Erik ten Hag’s side winning 2-0. Neither team will enter until the third round, having earned byes by qualifying for Europe, but some of their top-flight rivals – including Spurs and Chelsea – are in the pot.
The second round will feature 36 teams from the Championship or below, as well as the 12 Premier League teams without European football to look forward to. The second round fixtures will take place in the week commencing August 28.
