At least 25 cadets at the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Academy were injured while training when an SUV turned into the wrong lane.
The devastating scene happened while about 75 Academy recruits were on a morning run around 6.25am on Wednesday in South Whittier, California.
‘So far, it looks like it’s an accident, a horrific accident,’ Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said.
Five of the recruits were in critical condition. They injuries including head trauma, broken bones, and loss of limb, Villanueva said. One of the five is currently on a ventilator.
