When England take on New Zealand at the Gabba on Tuesday, it will be the first time that the sides have met in this format since last year’s T20 World Cup semi-final in Abu Dhabi, when Daryl Mitchell and James Neesham’s late hitting stole the match from England’s grasp. The jeopardy for the teams was the same that night. This time the danger is England’s; they cannot afford to lose if they want to make the knockouts.
