Capita calls in Amazon man after devastating cyber attack

Current boss Jon Lewis to help with leadership transition over the coming year

Capita has recruited an Amazon executive to steer its recovery after it was hit by a £20m cyberattack earlier this year.

The London-listed company, which collects the BBC TV licence fee, said Adolfo Hernandez, currently boss of Amazon’s telecoms division, is taking over from chief executive Jon Lewis.

Mr Lewis, who has held the top spot since 2017, is retiring at the end of the year. He will help with the leadership handover until next July.

The move comes two months after Capita suffered a cyber attack that saw some customer, supplier and staff data accessed by Russian hackers.
