Around a million cancer diagnoses were missed across Europe during the Covid pandemic and there is now concern of a “cancer epidemic” over the next decade.
Researchers say that following the impact of Covid, Brexit and the Ukraine invasion it is important that Europe responds with a strong cancer research programme.
And it is now a “race against time” to find the missing cancers.
Patients treated in research hospitals have better outcomes than those who are not, a new commission from The Lancet Oncology, “European Groundshot-addressing Europe’s cancer research challenges”, reports.
