Canadian author of novel ‘bought by Harry and Meghan’ is a fan of the Sussexes

Harry and Meghan reportedly bought rights to the book (Image: GETTY) Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘bought’ Carley Fortune’s novel ‘Meet Me At The Lake’ for an estimated £3million, with the author even admitting she is a fan of the couple. Ms Fortune, who is based in Toronto, woke up at 4am on May 19, 2018 to watch Harry and Meghan’s wedding in Windsor from the comfort of her own home. After seeing Meghan in her wedding dress, the author tweeted: ” Meghan Markle is pulling up to the chapel and I am feeling very teary! Maybe it’s the 4am start.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have reportedly bought the rights to the novel in order to produce a televised adaptation for Netflix . The romance book follows two people who meet by chance at two different stages of their lives. The novel is said to have captured the couple’s imaginations, particularly with Meghan’s connection to Toronto. The Canadian city is where Meghan lived when she was filming the popular US-drama Suits. Speaking to the Sun , an insider said: “The themes of the book gripped the couple and it was chosen for their first adaptation with Netflix . Although Ms Fortune is yet to comment publicly, she is likely to be thrilled by the possibility that her novel could become a hit on the popular streaming service. She tweeted: “I’m bingeing my way through Suits. I felt a bit sheepish about it at first but I’ve decided to own my fandom. “Suits rocks, you guys! (I think Meghan Markle is going places).” This news comes just a few weeks after the couple faced their latest blow with the end of their deal with Spotify. Meghan and Harry still have a deal with Netflix (Image: GETTY) Last month, both the couple and Spotify released a joint statement confirming the end of the multi-million-pound deal. The statement read: “Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series that we made together.” The couple still hold onto their multi-million-pound Netflix deal, which they also signed shortly after their royal exit.
