Callum McGregor: Celtic’s new squad at crossroads after cup exit

Callum McGregor thinks that Celtic’s new squad is already at a “crossroads” after losing a number of top players this summer. The shock 1-0 defeat by Kilmarnock in the second round of the Viaplay Cup on Sunday could snowball into a longer run of poor form unless answers are found quickly, said McGregor, the Celtic captain, in a passionate response to their slow start to the season.

McGregor and his manager, Brendan Rodgers, acknowledged that Celtic lacked quality in the loss at Rugby Park that ended their defence of the cup and brought Rodgers’ first defeat in any cup tie in Scotland.
