Bus driver’s nine words to boss after scooping huge jackpot on lottery ticket

A Kentucky bus driver won himself a life-changing sum of $100,000, prompting him to quit his job almost straight away. James Keown ‘loved’ his job but now has a fortune to his name

A bus driver was so thrilled to win a huge lottery prize that he stunned his boss by quitting his job nearly straight away.

James Keown told his boss “I hit the lottery and I’m not coming back,” when he won a grand prize of $100,000 after he bought a ticket at the Circle K convenience store in Jeffersontown, Kentucky.

James said he “loved” his job as a bus driver for the Jefferson County Public School District, but he had considered retiring after 11 years in the role.

“I called my boss on Sunday, and I told him, ‘I hit the lottery and I’m not coming back.’… I loved my job, but I’d been thinking about retiring for a while,” he said.
