The food chain has announced a big shake-up to its packaging in-store as it moves to become single-use plastic free by 2025 – customers can expect to see the change come into force nationwide
Restaurant chain Burger King has taken a major step towards becoming more sustainable by removing all lids from its plastic cups for diners sat in restaurants nationwide.
The chain hopes to ditch single-use plastic by 2025. This announcement comes after the burger joint decided to remove plastic toys from junior meals in 2019.
A statement from Burger King said: “This new initiative from Burger King UK is a bold step for quick-service restaurants across the UK – and it’s a big one. The initiative is predicted to remove a whopping 17 million plastic lids from circulation and save over 30,000kg of plastic every single year.
“Cutting down on single-use plastic is an important goal for Burger King UK. Burger King UK has an active approach to sustainability and clear commitments under the Burger King for Good framework.”
