Bruce Springsteen has no plans to retire despite selling back catalogue

Bruce Springsteen has no plans to put his feet up just yet despite selling his back catalogue of music for a reported $500million.

The singer, 73, sold the rights to his music to Sony Music Group in December for a reported $500million (£435million) but says he made the decision based on ‘timing’ rather than wanting to retire.

Bruce revealed on Sirius XM’s Howard Stern show: ‘I just got to a point in my life where, you know, I’m 73 years old and it was going to Columbia [Records] who I knew was going to take really good care of it.

‘And so it was just a timing thing and it was like, “ok it makes sense.”‘

The deal is reportedly one of the biggest single-artist catalogue deals to date, and Bruce admitted it was ‘absolutely’ about recognising the monetary value of his work.
