Brooklyn West Indian Day Parade shooting sees 2 shot, 1 killed and fire engine struck

Three people were shot at Brooklyn’s West Indian Day Parade. One died from his injuries, and in one of the incidents, a fire engine was hit by a stray bullet

Three people were shot at the annual West Indian Day parade in Brooklyn – and as the bullets flew, one grazed a nearby fire engine that was treating another unrelated patient.

The violence broke out at around 4.20pm when a man got into a dispute on Eastern Parkway near Franklin Avenue. During the incident, he reportedly shot himself in the leg and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

About an hour later on the same road a few blocks down, at the corner of Eastern Parkway and Rochester Avenue, another person was shot in another dispute. Initial reports indicated three had been shot, but that was later updated when the investigation revealed that two of the victims had actually been stabbed.
