 A woman from the UK has died after having cosmetic surgery on the island of Majorca. The unnamed woman had it at a private clinic in Palma in mid-September from a surgeon who worked in the capital and had travelled around Europe. During this operation a 'series of complications' arose and she was rushed to Son Espases University Hospital in Palma but died some hours later. The type of cosmetic surgery the woman had is unclear. A court on the island is now investigating her death and the family travelled to Majorca to take care of her body. Investigators will now ascertain whether her death was caused by medical negligence. But Majorcan newspaper Ultima Hora described the surgeon as someone 'who has spent decades working in Palma and other European countries.' Police or court officials are yet to provide any official comment in relation to the death. This is not the first time someone has died from cosmetic surgery abroad after the death of a British woman in Turkey. Melissa Kerr, 31, from Denton in Norfolk, died after a £3,200 'Brazilian butt lift' when injected fat entered into her veins in Istanbul on November 19, 2019. She had travelled to the private Medicana Haznedar hospital for the procedure. Jacqueline Lake, the senior coroner for Norfolk, said at the inquest she would write to the health secretary expressing concern about people travelling overseas for cosmetic surgery. She said: 'Ms Kerr wasn't seen by a surgeon or clinician prior to the date of the procedure and underwent a limited assessment prior to the procedures.
