British Gas extends scheme that gives customers half price electricity on Sundays

The British Gas PeakSave Sundays initiative will run for a further 14 weeks, with customers getting 50% off electricity between 11am and 4pm every Sunday until December 31

British Gas is extending a scheme that gives households half price electricity on Sundays into the winter months.

The PeakSave Sundays initiative will run for a further 14 weeks, with customers getting 50% off electricity between 11am and 4pm every Sunday until December 31. To take part, you need to have a smart meter installed.

The savings will appear as “PeakSave Credit” on your energy bill and you will be sent a summary of what you have saved each month. The idea is that households will be rewarded for not using energy-guzzling appliances, such as ovens and washing machines, during peak times.

Over 250,000 customers have been paid almost £1.3 million so far for moving their energy consumption to outside peak times. British Gas households can sign up to the scheme here.
