A British pensioner has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing his wife to death in a frenzied attack on the Costa del Sol.
Police rushed to a property in the resort town of Benalmadena in Malaga on Friday night when the woman, also British, rang the emergency services to say her husband was attacking her.
By the time they arrived, she was lying dead in the kitchen diner with more than 20 knife wounds.
The 80-year-old suspect, who has not been named, was arrested at the scene. A police spokesman said he appears to have ‘a psychological illness with cognitive impairment and Alzheimer’s disease’.
