Britain’s first Eurovision Song Contest entrant, Patricia Bredin, has died, aged 88 after representing the UK with song, All, in 1957

Britain’s first Eurovision Song Contest entrant, Patricia Bredin, has died, aged 88.

Patricia Bredin represented the UK in 1957 with her song, All, which was the first English language song of the competition, which was held in Frankfurt, Germany.

The singer was 22 when she performed in the contest and came seventh out of 10 countries which entered. Patricia was reportedly discovered at the Savoy before starring in a number of films, along with actors, including Ian Carmichael and Sid James.

The Hull-born star, who married Canadian millionaire Charles MacCulloch, spoke about her Eurovision experience in 2016, saying: “Singing in the final in Frankfurt, Germany, it was wonderful, because they had about a 60-piece orchestra and it was like being on clouds.”
