The 27-year-old woman, who has not yet been named, was killed while cycling on a downhill trail in forest on the Brescia side of the lake on Friday morning, Italian authorities said. It’s understood the woman was with her partner at the time, and sadly sustained catastrophic injuries after being thrown from her bike despite wearing a helmet.
The pair were on a cycling trip in Navazzo di Gargnano, a popular tourist spot near to the Italian lake. Paramedics were called to the scene and were tragically unable to save her.
Italian media reports the couple were on the final part of a tour of the Dolomites and were on a descent down a gravel path when she lost control of her bike and fell. Il Giorno reports the woman’s partner was also hospitalised in a state of shock.
