‘We want you to invest in an outfit valued at at least £800.’
When it comes to planning a wedding, most brides spend hours going over every detail to make sure everything goes according to plan. But one bride has been slammed for going “way too far” after implementing a weight-based dress code for her guests to follow on her special day.
She asked women between 100lbs and 160lbs to wear a “green velvet sweater, orange suede pants, red heeled shoes, and a Burberry scarf”. For men between 100lbs and 200lbs, they must wear a “purple fuzzy jacket, soda hat, white trainers and carry a plain glow stick”.
However, women over 160lbs must wear “an all-black sweater and pants with black heels”, while men over 200lbs must wear “camouflage and black sneakers”. The bride’s requirements for her Hawaii wedding were originally shared on Reddit in December 2018 ahead of her 2019 wedding – but have resurfaced this week as users continue to comment on them.
The post reads: “In anticipation of the wedding, and believe me, I know it’s a long way away but I would still like to announce the dress code! I am giving you a long notice of a year and a half so that you will have time to find and pick out something nice.”The dress code is very specific because it will be used to create an incredible visual effect. If done right, it will make our synchronized dancing along the beach really pop.”
