The event organisers, based on a recommendation from the match officials, deemed the pitch at the Rajamangala National Stadium unplayable and unsafe following heavy rainfall in Bangkok." Players had already conducted their warm-ups at the 51,000 capacity arena ahead of the match taking place. They were then taken off the pitch as officials went through their own checks. The game's originally 11am BST kick-off time came and went without an announcement before it was confirmed that the refereeing team would undergo further checks of the playing surface. Groundstaff were then spotted trying their utmost to clear the pitch of standing water, whilst others were tasked with repainting the lines that had been washed away by the deluge. However, the announcement then came that the game had to be cancelled. James Maddison and Harry Winks are likely to be the most disappointed as they miss out on reunions with their former clubs. The former signed for Spurs earlier this summer for £40m following the Foxes' relegation, whilst Tottenham academy graduate Winks was one of the first signings made by new Leicester boss Enzo Maresca.
