A three-year-old boy has died inside a house in a sleepy village sparking a police investigation.
Emergency services were called to an address in Ushaw Moor, near Durham, on Saturday afternoon to reports of a medical incident.
The three-year-old boy died after being taken to hospital despite the efforts of paramedics.
Residents have been warned of an increased police presence in the former pit village over the coming days as officers conduct enquires into the incident.
