Police provided an update into their investigation today (Image: Flickr/Mike Halliwell) A boy who was killed after trying to cross the M62 has been named as Callum Rycroft as police give an update into their investigation. Callum, 12, from Harehills, Leeds, was found on the westbound carriageway of the motorway near Cleckheaton shortly after 9.50pm on Saturday. He is thought to have been hit by a car on the eastbound carriageway between junction 25 and 26 with the driver failing to stop following the incident. West Yorkshire Police have today confirmed a second man has been arrested in connection with Callum’s tragic death. In an update today (Monday, August 7) West Yorkshire Police said a 47-year-old man from Bolton has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. It comes after a 36-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child. Callum had been trying to cross the M62 just 20 minutes after a boy and man reported seeing him walking along the busy road following a crash further down the road. Police confirmed that just before 9.30am an Audi Q5 was involved in a one vehicle crash on the slip road to Hartshead Services and there was subsequent reports of two people walking along the motorway. Police found a man on the hard shoulder and took him to hospital for minor injuries. Officers from the force’s Major Collision and Enquiry Team (MCET) have now recovered the black Toyota C-HR car which was involved.
