Emergency services rushed to his aid but despite the best efforts of paramedics, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene
An 11-year-boy has died after he was hit by a bus while riding his bike, police have confirmed.
He was killed just after 3:30pm yesterday in South Shields, Tyneside.
The youngster was struck while on Lizard Lane, in Whitburn, near Sunderland, which was closed for several hours.
A formal identification is yet to take place but the child’s family are being supported by specialist officers following the tragedy.
