Boxing fans turn on Tyson Fury as he makes “history” boast over Francis Ngannou fight

Fury takes on former UFC heavyweight champion Ngannou in October and fans have slammed the Brit for stating that “history will be made” in the fight

Tyson Fury has been criticised for stating “history will be made” in his crossover fight against Francis Ngannou.

Heavyweight champion Fury won’t be putting his world title on the line when he takes on Ngannou on October 28 in Saudi Arabia. The fight will be scored by three judges under the 10-point must system over ten rounds of three minutes, but it’s currently unclear if the bout will go on either Fury or Ngannou’s professional records.

‘The Gypsy King’ has been criticised by fans for fighting Ngannou after his undisputed heavyweight title clash against Oleksandr Usyk fell through again. Fury said of the fight: “As we walk through the storm together my loyal followers, we are going on a journey hold on tight! We are on are way to the stars. October 28 2023 where will you be when history will be made?”

“History? Are you becoming undisputed, oh no you’re fighting a 38-year-old non boxing professional ex UFC fighter for money,” one comment read. “Only history would be unifying the heavyweight division. You’ve become a laughing stock,” a second user added as a third comment read: “Hard to be a loyal follower tbh from watching on Channel 5 to dodging unification fights because of money it’s been a shambles.”
