Bosnian media outlets are widely reporting the suspect as Nermin Sulejmanović, who is said to have livestreamed his heinous murder spree. Before taking his own life, he said on Instagram: "Whoever ever reported me to the police didn't do well. Maybe I didn't reach someone, but now it's over." During his commentary, he listed all the individuals he had slaughtered during the rampage. "I shot at the policeman, but he ran away. He ran away with the Skoda, I couldn't catch him with the BMW," said Sulejmanović. Fears spread through the city after he issued a terrifying warning: "I'm waiting to load my weapon before moving on." N1 reported that Sulejmanović murdered his ex-wife and two men, a father and a son, while wounding a police officer and another man and woman at different locations across the city. Local mayor, Edis Dervišagić, declared a state of emergency in the northeastern town. He said: "There is a kind of state of emergency in Gradačac. Citizens were ordered to stay away from public areas. The police are intensively searching for the killer, reinforced forces are on the ground, I hope the agony will end soon."
