 Bob Marley and Sinéad O'Connor 'would have been good' together had they had the chance to meet, the reggae legend's daughter Cedella Marley reckons. Irish musician Sinéad died in July at the age of 56, devastating fans around the world, particularly in Ireland where her activism and music had an incredible impact. In the days following her death, tributes were paid to O'Connor with many remembering her kindness, strength and dedication to standing up for what she thought was right – something Cedella recognises in her father. 'If my father was alive, him and Sinéad would have been good,' the author and musician told Metro.co.uk. 'Know what I mean? They would have been good. Their spirits are very similar. Very similar. I wish her soul nothing but peace.' O'Connor was a noted superfan of Marley, who died in 1981: her ripping up of the photo of Pope John Paul II on Saturday Night Live came after she performed a cover of Marley's track War. Marley had a huge impact on O'Connor (Picture: Redferns) And her love of the musician was noted on the day of her funeral, as mourner and fellow musician Ken Doyle of band Bagatelle told RTÉ he had once met O'Connor outside her home, where she had painted the stones of her house in the colours of the Rastafarian flag. She told him Marley was 'my hero, really,' and he told her he had 'the honour' of supporting him in Dublin in 1980 – to which 'she looked at me, took a puff of her cigarette, and said 'You lucky fecker.'' O'Connor had later tried to recruit Cedella and her sister to do background vocals on an album she was recording in Jamaica, the eldest Marley daughter reveals, but unfortunately it wasn't to be.
