A prize of over £2.04 billion (£1.76 billion) has been claimed by a lottery winner in California in a historic and record-breaking win. The Powerball winner was announced to have won Tuesday morning’s delayed draw
After three months without a winner, a lucky ticket holder in California has bagged an incredible $2.04 billion ($1.76 billion) Powerball prize win.
The winning numbers were white balls 10, 33, 41, 47 and 56, while the red Powerball was 10. It is not yet clear if any more winners have also won the prize and if it will be split as a result.
Powerball’s original figure of a $1.9 billion (£1.65 billion) win was a previous jackpot estimate and eventually upped to the current $2.04 billion prize.
It is the highest ever total the lottery has recorded and there have been 40 consecutive draws without a winner since August 3.
