‘Better than bleach’ solution to lift ‘stubborn’ tea cup stains

The deep brown, or black, colour of tea makes it one of the worst offenders for staining – it will stain practically everything it can, including cups and mugs. These stains inside cups are unsightly and something households want to remedy, especially for those entertaining guests. While most people reach for bleach when spotting stains, Mrs Hinch fans have suggested a ‘better’ option. These responses came after one woman took to the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page to ask so some advice. Claire Violet wrote: ‘How can I get rid of tea stains from the bottom of a teacup? Tried bleach but no joy.’ A product that kept getting suggested was the Astonish Clean and Revive powder, which apparently requires ‘no scrubbing’. I put my teaspoons in at the same time and the stains disappear.’ Trisha Broadbent wrote: ‘Astonish cup cleaning powder. I swear by it. I clean my cups and glass vases that are covered in stubborn stains with it.’ Janice Reynolds highlighted: ‘Astonish do a cup cleaner product that is fantastic and I think it works better than bleach. ‘All you need to do is add a tablespoon of the product to the stained cups with water and give it a few minutes before rinsing.’ Cups don’t need scrubbing when using Astonish Clean and Revive powder (Image: Getty) Sophie Taylor said: ‘Astonish cup cleaner powder leaves my cups stain-free and sparkling fast.’ Linda Bradley wrote: ‘The Astonish powder is excellent for tea stains. No scrubbing even needed, it just wipes clean off after it’s been left to soak in water.’ Howard Moss, CEO at  Astonish  previously spoke to Express.co.uk about this product which is specially formulated to ‘banish ingrained stains with minimal effort’.  He added: ‘No scrubbing is required for an easy clean. Leaves no residue and no smell. Simply add a tablespoon and hot water and leave until cool.’  Looking for a new home, or just fancy a look?
