Bed sheets stained ‘yellow’ will ‘whiten instantly’ with 5p kitchen item

There are many reasons that make white bed sheet sets yellow or stained as time goes by.  Yellow discolouration on sheets is not abnormal. Bed sheets may develop a yellow tint just from regular use or ageing. When sleeping, you transfer a whole lot of yourself onto sheets, which leaves them full of sweat, body oils, dead skin, and so on, all of which will lend the bedding a yellow, dingy cast. This is exactly what has happened to one Mrs Hinch fan as she took to the Hinch Army Cleaning Tips Facebook page in search for laundry advice. Erin Brown wrote: ‘Really want white bedding but hubby turned the sheets yellow with his sweating. Is there anything I can wash the bedding with to get this back to white?’ Bed sheets may develop a yellow tint just from regular use or aging (Image: Getty) Group members flooded the comments section with product suggestions, but most were in favour of in particular – dishwasher tablets. Debbie Saupe said: ‘Use a dishwasher tablet. I wash mine with one of them when the sheets are stained and they come out crisp white.’ Karen Hall commented: ‘Dishwasher tablet (not one with a red ball in the middle) in the drum and you only need to put it on 30 degrees.’ Janice Campbell suggested: ‘Put them in the washer with a dishwasher tablet on any setting above 20 degrees and the yellow stains will be gone.’ A dishwasher tablet will whiten bed sheets (Image: Getty) Rebecca Lloyd said: ‘I used to use Ace For Whites, but I was told about the dishwasher tablet hack on here and I love it. It’s so much cheaper and whitens my bed sheets instantly after just one wash. ‘Plus, there’s no need to soak the sheets for hours before putting them in the washing machine. I just put it on my usual cycle and that’s it.’ Sean Reader claimed: ‘Dishwasher tablets are the best alternative to bleach for removing stains from laundry.  ‘I have used them to wash my bed sheets, pillows, duvet and mattress protector.’ Looking for a new home, or just fancy a look? Add your postcode below or visit InYourArea If white sheets, towels and clothes are looking stained and dingy, simply turn to dishwasher tablets and breathe new life into them. All you have to do is add a tablet to the wash, in addition to regular detergent.  The chemicals in the dishwasher tablets will remove stains and generally brighten those whites back up to ‘like new’ status in no time. This kitchen staple can be picked up from any local supermarket. Express.co.uk have found them to be the cheapest at Sainsbury’s  as they retail for £1.49 for a pack of 30. This works out as 5p per tablet.
