BBC’s DIY SOS accused of ‘bodge job’ on home which could have ‘killed someone’

DIY SOS participant Peter Chapman has accused the BBC and Nick Knowles of ‘wrecking his life’ after the crew was tasked with renovating the full-time carer’s home

Nick Knowles’ DIY SOS has been accused of a ‘bodge job’ on the show, which aims to give new life to people’s properties.

Full-time carer Peter Chapman claims the work done by Nick and his team was so ‘shoddy’ it could have ‘killed someone’. The 64-year-old lives in the property in Cheltenham with his disabled wife, Sarah and daughter, Suzanne. Insisting issues allegedly created by the crew included wall bars on the loo for his wheelchair-using wife coming off on the first day and part of the hallway collapsing, Peter says he has been in dispute with the BBC for three years.

Opening up about his experience on the show, he said: “DIY SOS has robbed me of the last three years and the stress is killing me. My wife Sarah and daughter Suzanne have not been able to use the outdoor facilities that were built by DIY SOS because it is now in a dangerous condition, which they were made aware of and they acknowledged over two years ago but nothing was done.

“On the first day after taking possession of the house from DIY SOS, Sarah nearly fell in the bathroom, which could have been fatal. Also, part of the floor collapsed in the hallway, while I was walking on it, which again could have been fatal for my wife or my daughter,” he told The Sun.
