A BBC News presenter left viewers confused after making a series of strange noises, unaware her microphone was turned on. Samantha Simmonds was in the middle of presenting the news on Thursday evening when she handed over to the weather team. But it appears her microphone failed to turn off after viewers were faced with a series of peculiar noises. The 43-year-old was heard sighing, before shouting “Yes!” and saying something unintelligible, unaware her microphone was still turned on. But Chris Fawkes continued to deliver the weather bulletin, clearly unaware what the audience was able to hear. Anchor Lukwesa Burak was unaware she was still on air as she was caught taking a big stretch. The camera quickly snapped back to her in the studio, with the presenter left startled. The show was supposed to cut to a new segment but a mix-up in the studio meant Ms Burak was seen taking a deep stretch after her presenting duties. Just a day later, a studio was plunged into darkness during BBC ‘s Look North programme. Presenter Dave Edwards pushed through with reading his bulletins, comically adding: “Oh. Needing to put a few coins in the meter I think.” In June, another on-air blunder took place during an interview Ben Boulos was having with a group of farmers. Instead of cutting back to the studio to presenter Nina Warhurst, the camera suddenly showed a different presenter in one of the off-air BBC studios. Unaware she was on camera, the punter was scrolling on her phone.
