Bayern Munich ‘making progress’ in Harry Kane transfer after apology to Spurs

Bayern Munich are reportedly making progress in their pursuit of Tottenham striker Harry Kane , despite the fact the club are said to be apologetic over comments made by their honorary president Uli Hoeness. Kane has just one year remaining on his Spurs contract and been linked with a move to Munich this summer. Kane enjoyed another fecund season last time around as he bagged 30 Premier League goals in 38 matches. And he piqued the interest of Manchester United earlier this summer as Erik ten Hag searches for a top-class goalscorer. Tottenham are reluctant to sell Kane to a rival Premier League club, however. And Bayern have now become the frontrunners to prise the 30-year-old away from north London. According to The Mirror , Bayern chiefs Jan-Christian Dreesen and Marco Neppe are hoping to link-up with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy on Monday after Friday’s talks were cancelled. And Bayern’s view is that slow but steady progress is being made. And Bayern are continuing to push forward with their move, despite Hoeness’ ‘unhelpful’ words earlier this month. ‘Harry Kane has clearly signalled in all conversations that his decision stands – and if he keeps to his word, then we’ll get him, because then Tottenham will have to buckle,’ Hoeness told Sport1. ‘Kane wants to play internationally and luckily for us Tottenham will not be active internationally next year.’ Bayern are aware that they will need to increase their offer to convince Levy to sell but are relaxed about the prospect of negotiations dragging on ahead of the September 1 transfer deadline. And manager Thomas Tuchel is willing to bide his time for as long as it takes to get his hands on his top striker target – even if that means Kane misses the beginning of the new Bundesliga season. The England captain is just 47 strikes shy of Alan Shearer’s record of 260 goals but may be prepared to sacrifice his personal endeavours for a shot at silverware at the Allianz Arena. Bayern could still face competition from the Red Devils for Kane’s signature, however, while Paris Saint-Germain are also keen to land the blockbuster star.
