Bayern Munich hopeful of Harry Kane transfer after private meeting with Daniel Levy

England international Harry Kane has just a year remaining on his contract and it’s unclear whether he will sign an extension or leave Tottenham in the near future

Bayern Munich are growing in confidence they will be able to seal a deal for Harry Kane.

The German giants are ready to launch a third bid for the England captain, who turns 30 later this month after Bayern’s transfer committee meets on Tuesday to discuss their next step. It follows Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen holding a breakfast meeting with Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy on Thursday.

Bayern are refusing to give up on their pursuit of Kane despite having had a £60m-plus offer turned down, while another £70m proposal was not enough to tempt Spurs. Now they are likely to go back with a figure closer to £80m and they believe that may tempt Levy to sell rather than lose Kane for free when his contract expires next summer.

Kane will not push to leave or agitate and that is key, so Tottenham will not be bullied into selling. He is keeping all three options – to leave Spurs now, to depart on a free transfer in a year’s time, or to sign a new contract – on the table.
