The Paris Saint-Germain forward is keen on leaving the French capital this window and favours a return to former club Barcelona but that transfer looks increasingly unlikely
Wantaway Paris Saint-Germain superstar Neymar is keen on returning to former club Barcelona this summer, but those within the LaLiga titans’ hierarchy aren’t so sure.
While some key figures in the Blaugrana’s structure are all for securing the Brazilian icon’s services once again, a number of others, including manager Xavi Hernandez crucially, feel that Neymar doesn’t exactly fit into Barcelona’s current crop. Sources close to the club have not ruled out the move, but insist both question marks over his place in the side as well as the financial aspect make this deal a difficult one to pull off.
As per ESPN, though, there is clearly some reservation from the club’s end, Neymar is firm in his stance that he’d like to rejoin Barcelona six years after he left the club for the bright lights of the French capital. So much so in fact, he has reportedly asked his representatives to make sure the deal happens.
However, much to the Selecao star’s frustration, the odds of a Camp Nou return are incredibly slim. Barcelona are highly unlikely to be able to fund any move for Neymar given their particularly precarious financial situation. Xavi’s opposition to the switch, despite the pair being former team-mates, is also a huge obstacle.
