Sir Billy Connolly has unveiled a new artwork to mark his forthcoming 80th birthday.
The Big Yin has completed 365 different versions of a drawing called Free Flight, which shows a faceless man in stripy trousers being held aloft by coloured balloons.
Connolly, who is suffering from Parkinson’s disease, was inspired by the story of Larry Walters, an American who in 1982 tied huge weather balloons filled with helium to a garden chair and took off into the sky.
The Glasgow-born comic, who turns 80 on November 24, said he wanted to create something joyous as an antidote to “bores” on the TV news talking about money.
