Baldur’s Gate 3 is a fairly demanding game to run, so you’ll want to double check your PC is up to the task before buying it
Baldur’s Gate 3’s PC release has arrived and it’s quickly become one of the most popular games on Steam. We don’t blame you for giving into the hype, but can your PC run it?
Baldur’s Gate 3 is out now, and it’s a mammoth-sized RPG that will take a while to finish. Luckily, despite how big the game is, it’s also a hell of a looker, which means you’ll need a decent PC to run it. The simplest way to put it is that if you’ve built a PC in the last five years or so you should be good to go â but there are some caveats you’ll want to know about before hitting that purchase button.
First thing’s first! The Baldur’s Gate 3 specs say that an SSD is required to play the game. Now considering the game is a hulking 125GB download this can be an issue for those with smaller SSDs. That being said, it’s not the end of the world.
Baldur’s Gate 3 has a toggle in the graphics settings titled ‘Slow HDD mode’ for improving texture loading performance on slower hard drives, which means you’ll be good to go if you can stomach significantly longer load times. But after that you’re free to explore the world, move scuffed rocks, investigate the disappearance of Arabella’s parents and craft a Masterwork weapon
