Leo Varadkar said last night the government has yet to receive a bailout figure from RTE as Catherine Martin, the media minister, came under intense criticism for her handling of the crisis.
It is understood a figure was likely to be proposed before the October budget.
Speaking to The Sunday Times yesterday, the taoiseach said: “I think there will need to be a sum but also an agreement on cost reduction and reform. But also, we need to bite the bullet and legislate for a new system in 2024 and have it in place by 2025.”
