Baby seen with ‘unusual’ rash before allegedly being murdered by ‘killer nurse’

Lucy Letby’s former colleague Caroline Oakley told Manchester Crown Court that when she got back from her break, the baby’s oxygen levels had dropped and she had an unusual new rash

A newborn baby allegedly murdered by nurse Lucy Letby had a rash never seen before by members of staff at the hospital, a court heard today.

The baby girl, known as Child D, is said to be the third child murdered by Letby in a two-week period, with another youngster suffering a life-threatening collapse during the same period.

Manchester Crown Court heard Caroline Oakley was designated to Child D at the Countess of Chester Hospital on the night shift of June 21 2015.

Letby, 32, was assigned to two other babies in the same intensive care room.
