Liverpool and Chelsea shared the spoils in an entertaining opening weekend encounter that offered optimism for both, but also outlined why they both still need reinforcements.
Six new faces were in action at Stamford Bridge as the two sides showed off their new acquisitions following below par campaigns last time out. Liverpool’s early dominance saw Luis Diaz open the scoring, albeit the lead didn’t last overly long as Axel Disasi levelled on his debut.
The Frenchman, who featured in the World Cup final in Qatar, showed his eye for a goal in the opposition box whilst also bedding into a new Chelsea system with Mauricio Pochettino making his bow as the new boss in west London.
