Manchester United beat Arsenal in a pre-season friendly in New Jersey on Saturday, but Avram Glazer’s attendance at the MetLife Stadium angered fans, and his reaction to their chants made matters worse
Avram Glazer, somehow, has made himself more unpopular with Manchester United fans after the maligned owner faced calls to sell the club in New Jersey on Saturday.
Glazer, who co-owns the club with his five siblings, was in attendance at the MetLife Stadium as Erik ten Hag’s side delivered an impressive performance to defeat Premier League rivals Arsenal 2-0.
The family, who have overseen a period of significant decline at Old Trafford since taking over in 2005, put the club up for sale in November. Much to the chagrin of United fans, the process has dragged on with no resolution in sight, with Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim al Thani and British petrochemicals billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe awaiting a decision on their respective bids.
Glazer, who also attended United’s FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City at Wembley in June and charged the club £250,000 to rent a private jet, was spotted by supporters outside the stadium â home to NFL franchises the New York Jets and New York Giants.
