 Asylum seekers on board the controversial Bibby Stockholm barge have reportedly been taken off after Legionella bacteria was found in the water. Everyone on the barge at Portland Port in Dorset will now be moved to new accommodation as a precautionary measure, reports Sky News. Legionella bacteria is commonly found in water but can cause a serious type of pneumonia affecting the lungs, known as Legionnaires' disease. According to reports, none of those on the barge have shown signs of having the disease. On Monday, after weeks of delays caused by safety concerns, local opposition and legal challenges, the first 15 asylum seekers boarded. Around 50 people were expected to move onboard the giant vessel but around 20 were granted a last-minute reprieve after a series of legal challenges. Routine testing was done before migrants moved on to the vessel, but test results showing traces of the bacteria only came back since then, according to BBC. This is a breaking news story.
