Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has provided an update on the fitness of Gabriel Martinelli after the Brazil winger limped off during the Gunners’ narrow 1-0 win at Everton
Mikel Arteta has revealed that Gabriel Martinelli suffered a hamstring injury during Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Everton.
Leandro Trossard scored a second-half winner for Mikel Arteta’s men at Goodison Park to continue their unbeaten start to the Premier League season. The Gunners have picked up 13 points from a possible 15 – the same amount as arch rivals Tottenham ahead of the north London derby next weekend.
However, Arteta will be sweating on the fitness of Martinelli after the winger limped off in the first-half. The 22-year-old went down having thought he scored the opener, running through before slotting beyond Jordan Pickford. But the goal was ruled out as Eddie Nketiah was judged to be offside in the build-up.
Martinelli was soon replaced by Trossard, who ended up being the match-winner, but Arteta will be hoping it’s not a long-term problem for the tricky Brazilian. When quizzed on Martinelli’s issue, he said: “He felt something, he felt it in his hammy [hamstring] so he will need to be assessed.”
