Bukayo Saka suffered an injury in Arsenal’s 5-0 Premier League win against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates on Sunday afternoon and is now a doubt for the World Cup
Mikel Arteta hopes Bukayo Saka will be fit for this year’s World Cup after the England international suffered an injury on Sunday afternoon.
Saka, 21, came off in the 27th minute of Arsenal’s 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates to leave Gareth Southgate sweating on his fitness. It’s just 22 days until England’s tournament opener against Iran at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar.
Saka is a key member of Southgate’s squad after helping England reach the final of Euro 2020 in the summer of 2021. The winger has won 20 senior caps for his country and is in good form, scoring five goals and providing five assists in 17 appearances this season.
Arteta was asked if Saka is now a doubt for the World Cup after Sunday afternoon’s game. “Hopefully not,” he replied. “It was a bad kick. Right from the beginning he was limping, but I don’t see any further than that. Let’s see how he is in the next couple of days.”
