Arsenal vs Nottingham Forest match delayed due to stadium problems

Arsenal started their new Premier League campaign against Nottingham Forest but the big kick off was pushed back with supporters left in snaking queues outside of the Emirates

Arsenal’s Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest was delayed after turnstile issues outside of the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners – who are looking to go one better than the second place they secured last season – were due to begin the new season at 12.30pm. However, shortly before the scheduled kick off, Arsenal confirmed a 30-minute delay, with widespread reports of turnstiles not working.

Thousands of supporters were left in long queues, with huge portions of the stadium remaining empty well past the original start time. It is understood that the issues centred around a newly implemented electronic ticketing system, with fans failing to scan their match tickets.

Rio Ferdinand – working as a pundit for TNT – pointed out how the delay could cause issues to both Mikel Arteta and Steve Cooper’s squads. “he players will need to adjust their preparations now,” he explained. “You have to remain calm, look at your warmup again. Bring yourself back down to normality and then get yourself ready again.
