Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale sent ominous long-term warning after Everton axe

Arsenal news: Aaron Ramsdale was dropped against Everton (Image: GETTY) Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has been warned he faces a long spell out of the side. The goalkeeper was dropped for Sunday’s match at Everton in favour of Spain international David Raya. Ramsdale played every minute of Arsenal’s 38 Premier League matches last season. He continued in that vein for the first four games of this campaign. However, Mikel Arteta decided to drop him at Goodison Park and select summer signing David Raya instead. Raya joined on loan from Brentford in August with an option to buy set at £27million. Arteta insisted he wanted to give Raya minutes ahead of a busy upcoming schedule. Arsenal return to the Champions League action this week, as well as facing Tottenham in the north London derby before the third round of the Carabao Cup. Arsenal news: David Raya replaced Aaron Ramsdale against Everton (Image: GETTY) But former Chelsea striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has sent an ominous message to Ramsdale. The Dutchman admits he always felt Raya would replace him and cannot see that changing again anytime soon. Hasselbaink said on Sky Sports: “First of all, I like Arteta but I think they’ve paid a lot for Raya and he is their number one and eventually he was going to play. Today is the first day he’s going to be a regular – I don’t see goalkeepers getting minutes here and minutes there, goalkeepers need rhythm, they need to stay in that momentum. “Raya is obviously a very good goalkeeper but Aaron is as well. They’re two very big goalkeepers, good goalkeepers, that you’d want in your team and it’ll be a difficult decision but I think we will see Raya in Arsenal’s team for a little while.” Former Arsenal winger Theo Walcott says Ramsdale’s reaction to being dropped will be interesting. The 25-year-old only started for England five days ago in the win over Scotland but has now been axed at club level.
