Arsenal suffered defeat at the Emirates on Wednesday for the first time in seven months, as Brighton & Hove Albion pulled off a shock 3-1 victory in the EFL Cup third round.
Coincidentally – or perhaps not – the last side to beat the Gunners on home turf back in April, Roberto De Zebri’s men came from behind to beat Mikel Arteta ‘s much-changed side.
Unfortunately for the Arsenal manager, his fringe players failed to come to the fore and reminded him that the January transfer window could be coming at a helpful time. In fact, the Gunners have already been urged to make a two signings in particular, with technical director Edu plotting to bolster the squad once again this winter.
