 It's the end of an era for Hollyoaks fans as Lucy-Jo Hudson has left the show, sharing her sadness at the ending for her troubled character Donna-Marie Quinn. In emotional scenes, Donna-Marie was kicked out by Leela Lomax (Kirsty-Leigh Porter) after being unable to kick her drugs habit, while grieving for daughter Juliet (Niamh Blackshaw). Before she headed out of the village, she promised son Romeo (Owen Warner) that the next time he sees her, she will be the mum he deserves The former Coronation Street and Doctors actress first appeared in the role way back in 2018, and was in the midst of crisis and turmoil from the outset. Mum to Romeo and the late Juliet, Donna-Marie has been a mum who has let her children done through their lives. But, more recently, the recovering drug addict has become a more stable part of their lives. In recent storylines, the loss of Juliet to cancer drove Donna-Marie to the edge, prompting her to fall off the wagon. Unable to cope with her daughter's death, the ending for the character has seen her fall apart, and Lucy-Jo has admitted to feeling very emotional at her final scenes. 'I felt pretty sad when I read the scripts because I thought she's done so well building herself up, but trauma has an effect on people and everybody deals with grief differently,' the star shared with Metro.co.uk.
