Harry Maguire has been stripped of the captaincy by Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, with the England international appearing to be on his way out of Old Trafford
A furious Harry Maguire is finally ready to leave Manchester United after Erik ten Hag stripped him of the captain’s armband.
Maguire was named skipper by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but dropped out of the starting line-up under Ten Hag last season. Instead, Bruno Fernandes tended to lead the side, with Maguire making just 16 appearances in the top-flight.
Ten Hag appears to have taken another step towards signaling his intention of moving Maguire on by making the decision to strip him of the captaincy. The England international announced the move on social media on Sunday afternoon.
That decision by Ten Hag now appears to have convinced Maguire that it is time to leave Old Trafford. He still has two years left on his contract at the Red Devils, but held a meeting on Sunday that may have signaled the end of his career at the club.
