Cassian and Kino finally team up for escape plan After discovering what really happened to the one hundred men on level two – who were all fried to death after a man who was supposed to be released from prison was accidentally transferred to another unit instead – Cassian finally convinces Kino to join his plan to escape. Cassian explains that the following day will provide the perfect opportunity for them to break out of the facility, as a new inmate will be brought to their work room to replace the elderly Ulaf, who died after suffering a stroke. While Kino is clearly still experiencing doubts about how the plot will be carried out, he declares to all of the men under his supervision: 'No one is getting out. It's true. The rumours are true. They're not letting us go. Ever. We're gonna die here or in the next place. So let's get our heads back in our cells and start figuring this out.' The time of counting down shifts is over, as the men realise that they're either never getting out of the prison or could die trying to secure their freedom.
