Andre Onana sends message to Man Utd team-mates after costly Bayern Munich blunder

Andre Onana was at fault for Bayern Munich’s first goal in Manchester United’s 4-3 defeat by the German club on the opening night of their Champions League campaign

Andre Onana has apologised to his Manchester United team-mates and the club’s fans for his blunder in the defeat by Bayern Munich.

Onana allowed Leroy Sane’s shot to squirm under his body, giving Bayern a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute on Wednesday night. United went on to lose the game 4-3 as their defensive problems continued to undermine Erik ten Hag’s side.

Serge Gnabry finished into the bottom corner for 2-0 before Rasmus Hojlund’s scrappy finish gave them hope. But Christian Eriksen’s handball allowed Harry Kane to score from the penalty spot and Casemiro’s two late goals were cancelled out by Mathys Tel’s stunning strike.

After the match, much of the focus fell on Onana’s mistake, which allowed the floodgates to open. The Cameroon international joined United in a £47milliion transfer from Inter Milan in July and has struggled for consistency in between the posts.
