 An 'aggressive' sea otter has had enough of surfers and is now stealing their boards. The slippery customer, officially known as 841, likes to scare the surfers away in Santa Cruz, California, before clambering aboard. She has shown up in multiple photos and videos over the years and has become known for her fearlessness. But the five-year-old otter is becoming more bold, and has started biting surfboards. Software engineer Joon Lee, 40, said 841 was 'fixated on his surfboard' and even bit off his leash to get ahold of it. Noah Wormhoudt, 16, told the New York Times he couldn't paddle away quick enough from 841. He said he got caught up in the excitement of being that close to an animal and 'got comfortable' with her. Footage on social media shows the otter pulling on boards with her teeth and charging at those trying to hang on. Officials said they will try to catch 841 before putting up a sign on the beach. 'Warning, aggressive sea otter in this area,' it states. 'Enter the water at your own risk. Keep away from marine wildlife.' The southern sea otter, who was born in captivity and then released into the wild, will hopefully be rehomed 'due to the increasing public safety risk'. Jessica Fujii, sea otter manager at the nearby Monterey Bay Aquarium, said: 'After one year of being in the wild without issue, we started receiving reports of her interactions with surfers, kayakers and paddle){kind=link}
