Buyers also offered a reward to change negative feedback about products, Which? finds
Amazon shoppers are reportedly being bribed to leave glowing reviews for products in exchange for vouchers, it has emerged.
An investigation by consumer group Which? found that “unscrupulous” sellers were bombarding customers with freebies to boost their rankings on the site.
It said one in 10 customers had received a note or card in the packaging of a product asking them to leave a five-star review in exchange for gift cards, refunds and free products. A further 8pc received emails to the same effect, the consumer group added.
Some customers had been offered a reward to change negative reviews to positive ones, while others were allegedly harassed for weeks after leaving a scathing review.
